The G20 runs 5x112, which is why it fits and the F30 before it needs the other spacer. BMW did not switch the whole range at once, and the G30 5 Series was on 5x112 two years earlier, so go by your chassis code rather than by year. The two 3 Series generations overlap heavily in the used market.
